Quick Answer: A parking lane needs one barrier gate per lane; the gate class depends on how many vehicles pass each hour (standard AC or brushless DC for up to about 120 vehicles per lane per hour, servo high-speed above that). Add a 5-megapixel LPR camera per lane for ticketless entry, a self-service payment kiosk when parking is paid, and pedestrian wing gates where foot traffic must be separated from vehicles.

The recommendation updates as you type and is based on the barrier gates, LPR cameras, payment kiosks, pedestrian gates and bollards we build.

Count both entry and exit movements in the peak hour (a 300-space shopping centre typically peaks between 400 and 900).

FAQ

How many barrier gates does a car park lane need?

One barrier gate per vehicle lane. A two-lane entry and two-lane exit car park therefore needs four gates, unless a lane is kept free for manual or attended operation.

When is a high-speed barrier gate worth it?

When a lane regularly handles more than about 120 vehicles per hour, or whenever queueing backs onto a public road. Servo high-speed gates open in 0.3 to 1 second instead of the 3 to 6 seconds of a standard brushless DC gate, which is what removes the queue.

Do I need a server room for LPR?

No. Our LPR platform runs on a public cloud that supports 38 languages and more than 100 countries, so the camera talks to the platform and no local server is required in the car park.

Do I need payment kiosks if the car park is free?

No. Payment kiosks are only specified when parking is charged. With LPR and a payment kiosk the car park runs ticketless: the plate is read at entry, the driver pays at the kiosk or by mobile, and the exit gate opens on the payment record.

Can this configuration be split across phases?

Yes, and it is common practice to do so. Barrier gates and LPR cameras are usually phase one, payment equipment phase two once parking becomes chargeable, and bollards or crash-rated barriers whenever the security requirement is formalised.

Is the price on this page?

No. The selector returns a relative cost index so you can compare options; the actual factory-direct price depends on model, quantity, destination and terms and is quoted against your project.
