Which one fits your site? Compare throughput, lane opening and enforcement in our speed gate vs turnstile guide.
Turnstiles and speed gates are specified lane by lane: the choice usually comes down to how many people per minute the lane must pass and how strictly the lane has to enforce one person at a time.
| Type | Passage rate (typical) | How it enforces access | Best for |
| Tripod turnstile | 20–40 people per minute | Mechanical arms; one person per rotation | Office and factory entrances, staff and ticket-controlled lanes |
| Full-height turnstile | One person at a time | Tall enclosure; difficult to climb or crawl | Perimeter gates, unmanned and high-security sites |
| Speed gate | 30–45 people per minute (our high-speed access gate data sheet) | Sensor lane with tailgating detection | Office lobbies, metro stations, banks |
| Swing / wing gate | Wide lane: 550–1200 mm passage | Two panels open for the authorised person | Trolleys, luggage and wheelchair access, receptions |
All four share the same chassis build and interfaces: SUS304 brushed stainless steel housings, RS485/232 and TCP/IP communication, infrared sensor pairs for anti-tailgating, and voice prompts. They accept card, QR, fingerprint and face recognition readers, so one access control platform can run the vehicle lanes and the pedestrian lanes together.
For a side-by-side comparison of throughput and enforcement, see the speed gate vs turnstile guide.
